3:41 pm - I'm getting Jaded looking for Design Jobs
I'm seriously contemplating giving up because EVERYTIME I apply for jobs I get

"Hi Andrea, both Donna and I want to thank you for your time and the test projects you sent in. Unfortunately we did decide on another applicant for the position this time.

We want you to know that this was not an easy decision and we both think you would be a good member of the team, I wish we had 2 spots open!

If it’s o.k. with you I would like to keep your information on file for the future. We are a growing company and I may have another opening in the design department.

Best regards,"

I'm thinking about picking up atrade, because at least then I'll get a frigging job

11:53 am - Zoot Aloor!
Well,

Meeting with the doctor didn't go so well, it turns out I have an irregular heartbeat. I have to go do one of those 24 hour heart monitor tests on October 21st, so hopefully they can figure out what the fuck is going on. The doctor says it's due to "eating too much salt, smoking and drinking" Neither of which i do. Wel, drinking maybe once a month, but that's it. And I hate salty shit, so, boo on that.

I'm going to my family doctor on Tuesday instead of the specialist to talk to him about doing the Bernstein diet. There's a certain diet that would help me called the tune up diet, since I'm onlyu about 20 pounds over weight, and it's supposed to help burn fat. Added bonus: It's doctor supervised. So here's hoping I get the okay, and that it's not too expensive.

I want to be healthy in time for my trip to Vegas with my parents in November. They're not taking Ashlea which is a HUGE bonus. (It won't end up like the trip to Hawaii a few years ago, YOU remember that gong show.)

Hopefully shit gets sorted out soon with my health and stuff. I'm getting really downhearted about the whole deal.

5:59 pm - People still use this thing?
Soo.. I'm going to give my readers what they want:

More about me!

Today I went to the specialist again, and I found out I have an irregular heartbeat. Tomorrow morning ASAP I am going for a ECG. I've gone back on Weight Watchers for real real not for play play, since, in the last year, all of my progress on Weight Watchers has brought me back to square one.

Also, I have gained the confidence that was destroyed at Sobeys to go look for other work finally. So no more working for my parents hopefully. I'm working on re-doing my website and working on some side projects to boost my portfolio, so I can actually say I've done something this year. Here's hoping for a decent job that doesn't crush my soul, again.

The new site should be up within the next week or so. Cross thy fingers!

9:32 am - Here's The Deal
Well, I really suck at updating this thing, but it's mostly because I never really know what to type, since I figure I'm really a very boring person.

Court Room Drama wise, well, I'm taking him to court. He failed to reply to anything, even reporting the accident to the police, he hasn't answered the lawyers, so we're taking him to court. *If* he shows up. Odds are, he won't, but apparently the Alberta government has a thing in effect for accidents caused by other people ho were unlicensed drivers as well as uninsured, and while it may not be everything he owes, and might be a portion, at least I'll have something. I have to pay legal fees up front, but the guilty party will have to pay for all of that, so basically I'm "banking" my money with lawyers.

In about 2 and a half months Matt and I will hopefully be homeowners. We're looking around the Strathcona area for condos or tiny houses to own. That's exciting in itself.

Matt and I (Well, and my friends) are really into the new Degrassi for some reason. It's one of those shows thats good, but for weird reasons. basically we all yell at the stupid teens for their mistakes and make fun of them for it, but actually eventually care and gasp at certain situations.

I still work for my parents, but I'm going to start a freelance design company so I can still do my design work. I just need to think of an original name. (Any and all help is greatly appreciated)

Books I am reading (Comic and book wise)

-The Diary of Anne Frank (Well, re-reading it)
-Snuff, Chuck Palahniuk
- Fables (Trade) Vol. 10
- Invisibles Vol. 1
- Hell Boy

If anyone has any other recommendations for other comics or books, let me know. I like reading

8:36 am - I get to Talk to a Lawyer Today!
Back In February I got rear ended pretty badly. No one was hurt, mind you, but I exchanged info with the driver, and was told to go get an estimate and he'd pay in cash, because he didn't want to go through insurance.

Fast Forward to the end of March, I finally get time to go get my van looked at, and the damage is about 4200 dollars. I inform him of the damage, and he seems upset that it's so much, but said he'd pay it. Of course, I had to report it to the police since it's over 1000 in damage, and upon reporting it, I found out he had no license. I tried getting in contact with him through e-mail, no reply. Called his cell phone, straight to voicemail. Repeat for about a week. Finally my dad just says to go through his insurance. The insurance agent on his end said "Sorry Andrea, his insurance was canceled in January, 2008" Well fuck, now I have to "Jusde Jusy" it and go to small claims. The lawyers then found out that he gave a false writing address, but contacted the Constable that was helping me, and hopefully found a way to contact him.

And today, I get to talk to these lawyers.

9:26 pm - Then She Came Crawling Back
I really couldn't stay away. I might have a contract job at a place called The Paper Tree. I'd be designing wedding invitations and the like. I had my interview today, and it went exceptionally well. The owners asked to speak to each other for a moment, and came back with good news. I have two "tests" that they will give me tomorrow. Basically I'll get to design two invitations, and I'll get a CD full of fonts, and another cd full of illustrator files. Then I design away! I'm excited. I'm going to do my best and show myself that I do belong in this industry.

Going down to Calgary on the 26th and 27th, for the Comic Expo. Totally going to meet Tricia Helfer. Yay!

Also to Clint: I lost the sketchbook of the drawings I did for your story. I'll have to re-do them all. Fucking gay. Also, congrats on the medal.

12:41 pm - Hello, Bandwagon? it's me!
I am saying goodbye to Livejournal, as is everyone else. If you really think I'm cool enough to be your innanet friend, you can find me on facebook. Essentially Livejournal just isn't cutting it for me anymore.
and, lets be honest here, I hardly post anything of importance.
farewell.

5:26 pm - Well....it's been a slice.
Today was my last day at work. Pretty uneventful. Boss Lady left early and didn't even say goodbye or thanks or, anything, really. Woo professionalism. I ditched early because there was nothing for me to do, and Boss lady was gone, and it's not like tehy can fire me or anything. I know I'm not getting a reference from my Boss, but I have friends that will give me outstanding references from my old job. I already have an interview set up for Monday at 1030 at the Kachkar Group. Here's hoping that goes well. Meanwhile, I'll work at my dad's office and earn the same amount of money as I did at ye Olde Jobe, and build my portfolio updating his website's look.

Going down to Calgary at the end of April for the Calgary Comic Convention, and looking into Hotels with decent rates that aren't swallowed up by other nerds. Otherwise, I guess we can have a van sleepover, or stay at one of our parents friends places.

Probably going to drop my business cards off at a few places on Whyte Ave on the weekend, for freelance work. Also, getting a friggin oil change. I need one so desperately, but I hate going alone because the oil dude always try to convince me that something's up with something and that I should buy package F because even though it's expensive, my van will fart rainbows, or something like that. Bleh.

Also Lost, still awesome, totally called it on the character that would be revealed. (won't ruin it for the lazy people who haven't watched it yet.)

Battlestar Galactica comes out on DVD next week (Season 3, at least) So I can catch up on that finally, even though a few things have been ruined for me by Matt's Toy Fare magazine. If anyone is up to it, come on ove rto watch and be fat and sassy!

12:24 pm - This Week in the World of Andrea....
it was a pretty exciting week, when it didn't come to work.
I spent Monday and Tuesday at work, and worked out, and made some friends at Curves.
Wednesday I applied at a little place called Notables in Edmonton, and about an hour later got an interview, which I have on Tuesday at 4:30, right after work. I've spent all week reading about this place, and it seems like an awesome place to work, and build some portfolio pieces. However, I am going to ask about wage expectations and if there are benefits. If the wage is at least 14 an hour, and I get benefits, cool, since that's only a dollar less than I make now, and if the wage is more, but no benefits, I'll still take the job, but will look into getting Blue Cross, or see about Matt being able to change his health care status. Any less than 14 dollars an hour, and I'll probably politely decline. At least if anything, this job will be way more creative than doing flyer work and grocery signage.

I also got rear ended on Wednesday, and after continually looking at the damage, I realize it's not as bad as I previously thought, so I probably will just call the guy and tell him that. He didn't want to go through insurance, but I do have his information should I decide to do anything about it. Really though, I can probably just get someone to hammer the dent out or something.

Lost is also still good, but is posing more questions then it is answering. Meh, I'm used to being teased.

Going to go see Cloverfield tonight, finally. Yay!

6:55 pm - Baby, it's Cold Outside
Aside from my van sounding like it was going to bite the big one, I made it to work alright. An accident free zone, but it still took me an hour to get to work.

The parking lot at work was essentially a gong show, Sobeys has their own plow since they have to shovel for semis/delivery trucks, but they left employee parking until last. I saw a guy get stuck and some brainiac decides to push teh other guys car with his bumper. Essentially shard of fenders flew everywhere. Seriously, who does that in Alberta? it's minus 47 degrees, a fiber glass bumper turns to glass essentially.

I also regret not buying winter boots, canvas shoes aren't exactly winter appropriate, so I guess I'm not a brainiac either.

It's supposed to be minus 46 without wind chill tomorrow, I really hope my van starts.

8:10 pm - Test results and test situation thus far.
So my high blood pressure may not be caused by cholesterol or anything like that at all. I have to go take a potassium blood test. too much, or not enough potassium is possibly what is making my blood pressure high. I got for my chest x-rays and ultrasound on Monday, and I meet with the doctor on Tuesday. Sooner ot later (Hopefully sooner) I'll get this figured out.
